ツーソンメディカルセンターの小児科研修プログラムは、徹底したコア知識ベースを提供するだけでなく、各研修医が個人の興味とキャリア目標に合わせた教育体験を作成できるように設計されています。レジデントは、独立した実践の前に教育を最大化するための限られた時間しか持たず、プログラムディレクターと協力して独立したカリキュラムと選択科目のローテーションをスケジュールする際に、それを考慮することが期待されています。

- Residents will be able to choose any subspecialty elective. They may also choose a pharmacy, obesity and/or lactation rotation, additional inpatient month, research, Indian Health Services/Public health, global health or away rotation as it applies to their career plan.
- Residents will spend 2 weeks with the quality department on a quality improvement rotation during one of their IC months. This may be part of a research month or separate.
Private pracitce sites will be at private offices within the Tucson Community. Residents will be matched with a single private practice site their intern year and will return to the same site for their second and third year private practice rotation. If the resident would prefer a different private practice site their third year due to career goas, this will be an option.
* Percent outpatient: During an inpatient rotation, the resident will still be attending their continuity clinic. They will have at least 42 weeks of 1/2 day continuity clinics, and their 24-hour call schedule will be adjusted around this in order to increase continuity of their time and day within their clinic.
**Variable Site: Resident Site will vary based on assigned private practice or which elective/ Independent curriculum the resident chooses. They will have the choice of many outpatient community subspecialists located in Tucson as well as some based within Phoenix Children's Hospital. They may also choose, for their Independent Curriculum, to do more Ward, PICU or NICU months at TMC or another hospital as well as an away elective.
